Re: Custom layouters (element positions + size)

If I had to generalize the idea, a layouter would be a way to set item's properties with computed values. A layouters would be an implementation that set X and Y. I'm not a fan of a new editor because usually it locks you in a specific case. In my opinion it's legitimate only when it's frequently u...

Re: Template classes for user defined complex item instances (re-usable)

Great picture! Yes of course I like the idea. And of course it's a massive change in the architecture ;-) The only way to do this properly is to rework some fundamental aspects of the app in a way it would make it incompatible with previous versions. For this reason I never implemented the class ba...

Re: Template classes for user defined complex item instances (re-usable)

Thanks :) Whether anytime soo or for a coming V2 update - this feature is one of the most powerful upgrades for LL and would let it stand out a lot against the competition! You could basically create your own custom widgets which include all elements from LL plus all widgets of your phone plus scrip...

Re: Template classes for user defined complex item instances (re-usable)

What's really important: Instances shall CHANGE when the original class is changed. They are always linked to the original design of the template class. This shall work even when there are instances of the class already existing. These instances will change when you change the design of the template...

Re: Template classes for user defined complex item instances (re-usable)

Once you have some template classes defined you can press [+], go to the tab "templates" (which has yet to be added...) and select your own class. This creates an instance of that class with its own instance properties that can be changed. It would feel like your own template classes were always par...

Re: Template classes for user defined complex item instances (re-usable)

Because a picture is worth a thousand words I took the time to illustrate how template classes could be used. The example constructs a template class that can be used for apps in order to give them a custom layout with a badge, a background circle and a label. You could imagine much more complex des...

Re: Custom layouters (element positions + size)

Well the problem with doing it by script is basically the assigment of elements to positions. You really want to do this with editor support! So tapping on a position to select or create an element there. With a script it might be doable but it would not be maintanable when changing positions of ele...

Re: Template classes for user defined complex item instances (re-usable)

Yes you're basically right. However the "public properties" of template classes are overridden in the other direction. While the current properties are overriden on a hierarchy level below template properties are overriden a level ABOVE the defined template class. Because each template class defines...

Re: Custom layouters (element positions + size)

Well, I don|t think that a script could helps in this case. The problem is that a script won't respect interactive changes like scaling, rotating and so on. I made a graphics to show what custom grids and polygonal placement mean in my understanding. The main difference for the "custom" grid is that...

Custom layouters (element positions + size)

Currently the positions of elements are defined by two mechanisms: - grid (fixed height, width, dimensions) - freely (detached from grid) Both mechanisms are very useful and desired. I now propose a third mechanism which instroduces user defined layouters. A layouter would control where objects are ...

Template classes for user defined complex item instances (re-usable)

Regarding elements which are made of multiple other elements (compound objects) it would be wonderful to be able to define a "template class" for such elements in order to instance them multiple times. Changing the template would also change all instances of this compound object. This would allow to...

Badges with notification counts for selected apps

It can be kept in memory but there's no way to know something changed. Keeping the list up to date is an issue because keeping track of modified is currently another issue. Re: Copying widget items doesn't work as intended

Ok, I understand. It's a bit strange that Android doesn't support standard API calls for 1 + 3. Because it would allow a preset manager and stuff. Really strange. But if it's not too much effort to use the non-guaranteed non-standard interface for 1 + 3 would you eventually add this functionality as...

Okay, thanks for your support πŸ‘ When mixing is not possible then the default could be markdown unless the user explicitly changes it to HTML.
Or eventually it's better offering a dropdown to select the renderer for text like "plain text", "markdown", "HTML". Would make it clear what happens.

Yes, I know that setting negative values there could clip off content. But its (a) trial-and-error (b) not very user friendly and (b) not really flexible if the cutout needs to be more complicated. Re: Outside event for windows (e.g. to close it)

Okay, sounds good as the open windows were a little annoying.

I believe simply fixing the issue vs providing an user-overridable "outside event" does not make that big difference because you have to detect something like said "outside event" anyways.

Thanks πŸ‘

When adding a widget it's currently not possible to hide a specific part of it explicitly. Sometimes it would be handy to be able to define a "clipping mask" to define what's shown and what's hidden.
