Great tutorial, extensive and clear! This is also a good introduction on how to write scripts, just before to dive in the javascript code.
The only typo I could find is at: 7) If everything were -> went
But that's really to find a mistake because your tutorial is really good.

Re: Syntax highlighting in script editor

If there's enough reasons to do it, I might spent some time do it. This is not the job of the launcher to be a full fledged text editor but to be honest I rarely use an external editor. I use either the built-in one, or my PC, but no tool in the middle.

I perfectly remember JayM ;-) In practice, a huge number of apps make use of parts of the support library. I wonder whether it could be possible to "link" with a well known app (say, Google Play...) to import those support classes. That would be dirty but the concept is interesting: code sharing. Wo...

Re: V14.3 beta2

You have to leave the beta channel to use the stable version. Be aware that not all apps support that though, so please always make a backup before upgrading and downgrading since data may not be compatible with older versions of the app (the stable version is older than the beta)

Indeed the one used in the app drawer is a custom component. This is possible to display and configure the standard actionbar through script but not in the app drawer. Usually a refresh is all that is needed, it will really do a full scan. Apps are not visible because the...

You can capture the log using a PC, logcat and a USB connection, but that's not straightforward. Otherwise you may try the beta which should capture the log itself and allow you to send it by email.

This text editor is based on the open source one found in Ted (licenses here: https://www.lightninglauncher.com/wordpress/licenses/), which had no syntax highlighting at the that time. It doesn't seem that Ted has evolved since.

Re: Unable to add shortcuts to desktop from 3rd party apps

After the bad news, I have good news. Lightning is not conforming to the newest API, and some apps (like Chrome) detect this and behave in old mode when creating shortcuts (which is quite strange since it can't work anyway). I patched LL to use the newest Oreo API and was able to add Chrome shortcut...
