The used edit control seems capable of it:

What do you mean by "seems capable of it" ?
This text editor is based on the open source one found in Ted (licenses here:
https://www.lightninglauncher.com/wordpress/licenses/), which had no syntax highlighting at the that time. It doesn't seem that Ted has evolved since.

I copied this syntax highlighted text from Turbo Editor (
https://github.com/vmihalachi/turbo-editor/). After a paste in script editor, I took the Screenshot. So the control is able to show various colors.
This is meant with."
seems capable of it". I know that isn't syntax highlighting, but it would be a nice feature.

Oh, I wasn't aware of this component. That's an interesting link, thank you. The code looks a bit strange to me and hasn't been updated for while but it is worth having a closer look at it.

does this mean you might swap Ted for turbo? syntax highlighting would be a great feature but I remember you said you didn't wanna do to much work on the script editor as there is propper code editors already on the market or something like that.

If there's enough reasons to do it, I might spent some time do it. This is not the job of the launcher to be a full fledged text editor but to be honest I rarely use an external editor. I use either the built-in one, or my PC, but no tool in the middle.

I reckon a lot of people just use the built in editor saves messing about with other apps.
