New Apps installed not automatically added to launcher anymore

If I remember correctly, new apps I installed always got placed on my home screen / launcher automatically. This has stopped quite a while ago and I always have to manually search the app an add it to the launcher. This really keeps bugging me. Is there a way to change this back to newly installed apps automatically being added to the launcher?
